FRIDAY, July 23, 2010
Friday, July 23, 2010, is a BIG day and brings the 6th Annual Mustang Week Car Show at Myrtle Beach Mall (intersection of US 17 and SC 22). The 2008 show brought a sell-out crowd of 550 cars in the show and just over 7,000 spectators! The 2010 Car Show will fill up quickly. The 2009 show sold out prior to the start of Mustang Week, so pre-register as soon as it is open! The car show is open to all years of Ford Mustangs and SVT vehicles and has quickly become one of the best all-around Mustang car show on the East Coast. Spectators and participants will have the chance to see everything from mild to wild and from classic Ponies to late models just off the lot! Cars/trucks will be judged bases on the overall cleanliness and quality of presentation. We will look at the interior of the car, the engine compartment, the body, the wheels and tires. We will not judge convertible tops or side glass since they are optioned to be down during the judging period. We will not judge trunks as well. The people who do win at the Mustang Week Car Show take cleaning serious and it shows. The Staff understands that you are not at home with all your "normal" cleaning products and procedures. BUT... each year folks drive a long way to Mustang Week and always manage to get there cars REALLY clean! In 2009, 140 trophies were awarded, so good luck! For those that wish to be part of the judging, the fee is $30. Registration for the judged portion of the car show will be by pre-register only on the Mustang Week website (www.mustangweek.com). The car show will sell out online prior to the actual event, so register early to ensure you get a spot. After registration closes, there will be no late entries. Check-in for the show will be between 9:00am and 11:00am. Judging starts at 11:00am. Awards will be presented SATURDAY JULY 24TH AT 3PM in front of the Mustang Weeks tents and trailer. Participants may choose to "display only" for $10. Participants will pay for display as they drive into the day of the event. The show field is located in the southwestern corner of the mall's parking lot, adjacent to Bass Pro Shops. Participants will enter access the show field on the service road at the rear of the mall. Mustang Week Staff and volunteers will be present to help with parking.
The Mustang Week sponsors and vendors will be out in full force at the show as well. This offers participants and spectators the opportunity to talk one-on-one with industry professionals and get great deals on some of the hottest new products.

Do more people just display then show? My car is not a show winner, but it is a very very nice car. Is the display field separated from the show field or are they both close by or combined?
thanks!

They put them both right next to each other.

I would say there are more cars on display than show because the show fills up so fast and alot of people who come down do not want the car show stress of cleaning a car up for such a big show.

The car show cars and most of the display cars are in the same area of the parking lot.

Can I upgrade my Display to Show spot? the day of the show?
Unfortunaltey no. We will have all cars show car packages ready the day of to help with the getting all cars parked and judged, so we will not be adding any car show cars the day of the show
thanks

I have a question, I actually live in Myrtle Beach, and just got my registration paperwork in the mail yesterday, stating that i had one car in the Judged Car Show, which is the 23rd, Friday.
So the question I have, is I will be taking off of work the 23rd, but may possibly have to work the next day when the winners will be announced, and wondered if you had to be present to receive the prizes? *Not that I'll win* but I just wanted to check, I actually work at the Chesapeake House, right up the road from the mall, have to be there at 330, so I'd be cutting things close if I did have to work....
Please let me know, and I can't wait to see everyone this year!

In the past we have always saved/shipped folks their trophy if they had to leave. You could always try our contact phone numbers to see if you could get it later Saturday evening...

We want to remind everyone that the show field does not open until 9am on Friday for the Car Show. Below is the suggested entry routes into the mall/show area. Please do NOT show up at 6:30am thinking you are going to get onto the show field early. We will NOT be ready.
Typically, folks that feel they must arrive early park on the far side of the mall to begin prepping their cars. We want to ask everyone to exercise extreme patience with us as we try to get everyone in promptly when the show field opens. We ask that you do NOT enter the show field in a roped off area (ie. lifting a rope and driving under/over). Anyone caught doing so will be asked to leave and entry fees will be forfitted.
When the show field opens, follow the directions of those helping us park cars and have your confirmation letters in hand.
Below is a map of the show field area and the place where ALL cars (judged and display) will enter.
See you all in a few weeks!!

I know in years past people have lined up at the gate about thirty minutes early. Is that allowed, do you not want us to do that? Myself running a show every year of 50-75 cars I know how hard it is to deal with cars before your ready so I understand what you all go through. But I was just curious if this "prestaging" to enter the show field would be allowed or what?

Folks will start lining up early, that is a given. What we don't need is 100+ cars showing up 2 hours early to just sit in line. It never fails that a ton of folks show up too early while we are still trying to get sponsors/vendors settled. And it never fails that one of the early crowd sneaks onto the show field and then gets really mad when we ask them to move back out until we are ready. We really want to avoid that type of thing if possible.

As this is my first year going to MW how are cars parked - first come, body style, by specialty (Saleen, Roush etc)?

This year we will split the show field, display cars on one side and judged cars on the other. Cars will be parked in the order they arrive.

This is a great idea. Lets the people in the show figure out what cars exactly they are up against.

Yeap just be sure EVERYTHING is clean. The judges do a great job keeping it level across the board no matter what year you've got.

I've got a detail appointment set-up with Pro-Tech on Wednesday, so I'm sure that'll help. and I'm gonna let the local detail place clean the engine bay and a few other things before I come down.

Just Curious to see if anyone will be coming or going from the show Friday back down towards Mytrle Beach (Holiday Sands South to be exact) during the day on Friday. My wife and I are only bringing one car down and I have it enter in the show. She is wanting to come later in the day Friday. Just seeing if anyone knows of any shuttles, or other family members that maybe coming to the show later afternoon Friday. I guess I could leave the show and go pick her up, but would it be wrong for me to leave during the show and then try get back to my spot?
