NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – A coastal wildfire spread early Thursday toward one of the busiest tourist stretches in South Carolina, burning dozens of homes and forcing hundreds to flee in the middle of the night. No injuries were reported.

WOW. I didnt realize how close that was to the North MB. It is actually right near where we stay in Barefoot landing. Hope everyone down there makes it through OK and is safe.

The fire went threw Barefoot Landing, destoyed some homes but not the resort because the fire did not jump the waterway. A total of 70 homes between hgy 90 and Barefoot Landing were lost. 20,000 acres burned. As of Thursday 40% contained.

Here is the updated news article. They are saying 50 percent contained as of early Friday. The good thing is, no reported injuries thus far. Hope it stays that way.
