My sister's a computer geek for the state of florida, she suggested this site
http://www.danielmoravec.com/seo/how-to-stop-forum-spam/, hope it helps, I myself don't understand all this computer stuff, but if that doesn't help I'll send you her e-mail and maybe you guys can work it out.

Another forum I mod on has had to go to activating each new member individually to keep it down. Its a pain, but the only real way we have found to keep it off the boards. Downloading the spam blockers hasn't helped that site, but its a phpBB. vBulletin may have some better blocks.

I agree with Scott it needs to go. Donna is right the only way to control is as she says. IMO.

We are working on it. As this is so new to us, with the growing pains of a new site and forum section, just something else we have to address. We will continue to do our best to keep them off the site.

Thanks
Scott

Ive been battling them at the 2 sites I have, I have them pretty much at bay for now

first, ban all .ru email addresses, I dont think we have any russian members, this will catch some of them, but some have adapted to using yahoo addresses now

turn on image and email verification if its not already, this doesnt help much though since the bots can decode the images now

there are several modifications available at vbulletin.org you can install to keep them out, the owner of the vbulletin license will have to register there and verify their license to have access to them though

I set my board up with the "code" registration, and have been getting spammers alot lately also.. so I switched to that and member activation with the email.. I just took it off, and will be switching to admin activation.

Vbulletin will help you more than phpbb.
