My goal to 50lbs is on a good start. As of this morning, I lost 15 lbs in a little over a month. 35 to go in 4 months. I could definitly lose more, but 50's a great start

any loss is better than no loss! that means you're doing something rite. i know loosing 20 made me feel entirely different doing every day activities. i can't imagine how 50 would feel. my sister lost over 100 in just over a years time and is no longer on any of the medications she had to take daily before she lost the weight. she feels and seems like a whole new person now!!!!

Great progress so far, keep it up.
Soda is a HUGE thing to cut out, mainly because you crave the caffeine after a while and you get comfortable sneaking a few in, then that turns into regular drinking.
But keep in mind that MANY other drinks (orange juice, almost all fruit drinks, sweet tea) are loaded with almost, or just as much sugar and carbs as soda.
Water is THE single best thing to drink. I have kicked soda, only allowing one every so often and making sure it stays that way. In addition to shedding the sugar/carb weight, I can almost promise you that you'll feel better. High fructose corn syrup is some disgustingly bad stuff, and it's found in almost all sodas as well as many other very sweet drinks. On top of this, the more water you drink, the more easily your body can process and flush waste from your system.
Try to limit yourself to 3 regular sized meals a day and don't eat after 9, 10pm if you can help it.
Another big thing... pay close attention to labels on the groceries you buy, and serving sizes. A lot of times something will pass as "ok" for a single serving, but that single serving is 2 tablespoons from a container that has 36 servings (like peanut butter, which aside from fat is good for you in moderation).
Stay away from anything and everything fried. Grilled is WAY better for you.
Avoid fast food unless you're getting a salad, or low fat dessert (like Mc D's yogurt and fruit parfaits), or some kind of grilled wrap or chicken sandwich.
I've found that Any of Mc D's grilled chicken sandwiches are full of protein (use this as my school pre-workout diet) and very low in fat even with bacon and ranch...
And just as big as diet is exercise. Doing some cardio exercising will accelerate the weight loss process even faster, and additionally it will help you get into good physical shape, even in small steps. Walking, jogging, and running are all good at burning carbs (if you cover enough distance), but can be hard on joints, etc.
Riding a bike is a lot more joint friendly and will burn just as much carbs in a more friendly manner. Low-impact fitness machines are also a great alternative if you have, or have interest in a gym membership.
I probably just wrote everything you already know, but I love seeing people help themselves get into better physical shape rather than letting themselves go.
Keep up the good work. It's a pain in the butt, but the end result is by far worth the work!

Congrats....You keep up the work...
I started out wanting to lose weight....Needing to Loose Weight but could just never make my self do it....
Well me and the wife were kinda of Joking around abit and she said if I lost a 100lbs I could go to Mustang Week again this year....so I started in May 2010. I weighed a whopping 320lbs....as of today I weigh 247lbs and have lost 73lbs....Doubt I will make the 100lb mark. But I will be at mustang week, she is giving me an A for good effort I have done it through cutting back (sodas, Pizza, Hamburgers, Fast Food all together) and I excise twice a day for about 45 mins each time.
So you can do it.....I know if I can anyone can......Keep at it!

if u drink a soda just make sure its a DIET soda. a low carb and workout routine is the best diet. ive always been able to cut and gain weight for sports easily but ive gone from 255 to 230 in 2 months. got back to running and lifting weights and pulled back from the table sooner and diet soda if i drank them. always LOVED water myself. lost the weight so id look better for the beach and so id make my weight cut if i do decide to go join the USAF. 6'6.5'' 230lbs now.

Don't take this personally, but diet soda is a horrible choice.
Yes, you do cut out the carbs, calories, and sugars, but you are also taking in phenylalanine and aspartame.
There's a very clear reason why they must let you know in big bold letters that your drink contains phenylalanine. Aspartame is bad for you as well, and has been contributed to several health issues.
In my opinion, you're better off to drink regular soda and keep them cut back in quantity.
I don't know if any of you drink TAB, but stay away from that stuff if you do. I had several family members that drank it every day, and now they are dead from succumbing to cancer. Doing some research on the drink will make you think I'm a little less crazy from trying to connect the dots.
