This year was my second Mustang Week. I had a great time and I only got in one wreck.:mad:haha Mustang Week has become my summer vacation and I would love to see it continue to grow.

One event that I was looking forward to watching again this year was the auto-x. I was disappointed to see that is was not timed like it had been in '06. Did it cost to much to rent the timers? The reason I asked is I plan to bring my Cobra next year and run the auto-x. I would love for it to be timed again if possible. If not I will still show up and run.

Thanks
Brent

We originally planned the Autocross for Friday, behind Bass Pro Shops, during the Car Show. But, we ended up having enough sponsors and vendors to fill that area as well. Having the Autocross at MB Speedway, during the fun runs worked out really well. We honestly were "on the fence" about bringing the Autocross back this year, but the turnout was great at the Speedway. If there is that much interest next year, we can definitely work on getting timing equipment.

As for the Speedway... I think it went great, for a first-year event. We have some issues to work out with the Speedway management, but we can overcome that. The fun-runs were a BIG hit with most and the Autocross constantly had someone running. We will work on that venue and how next year's event will be handled in the coming months.

Thanks for the interest in the Autocross. I'd personally like to see it grow.

With timing equipment, it would be possible to offer a small award for the fastest car. I realize at this point people will want to get into classes, tires, ect. So it may not be a great idea, but I think a trophy just for the fun of it would make the event grow. It could be awarded on the same day as the show.

Hopefully Ill be bringing a somewhat prepped car next yr, and would love to see the auto x return. If our 03 wasnt running on cheap tires at the moment I would have run it. I usually dont come down until weds, and almost missed the auto x this yr. A last minute decision after we got unpacked got us there in time though.

I have a suggestion.....Keep the Fun Run at Mrytle Beach Speedway(that was AWESOME)....86 the cruise to Darlington and offer a Fun Night on Thursday at the Family Kingdom - maybe you guys can work with them on a group discount.
OR a Fun Night at one of the mini golf places.

As one that took a trophy home in 2006, I was disappointed INITIALLY that there was no trophy runs for 07...

However... After running in 06, I know it's almost an all day affair. Getting a chance to play with different venues such as making Hot Laps on the speedway well made up for no trophy! :)

If it helps any... Autocross trophies are the same as Car Show trophies....

It's not the trophy you'll remember, it's the memories of how you got the trophy that made it fun. And if you have to have a trophy to remember things......................... I'll leave it at that.

I'd gladly trade my trophy for a couple more hot laps! hehehe. Awesome job guys!

I did not realize there were trophies given last year. I guess there were not as many people last year cause you had to pay per lap. My thought was the trophy(same as car show award) would entice more people to come out and give it a try.
