yup stock block. block was bored .20, decked, honed and line honed. she is good as new now. its all forged and all new. i am going to try and get my heads on it this weekend and get more pics up next week. i was hoping to have the car painted before mw so i could show it but i will just probably have it at the cruise in this year.

Are you having any head work done? Are you building it yourself or having someone else do it for you. The pics look great, keep us updated on your progress and good luck to ya.

yeah building it myself its really not all that hard just have to watch all of the torque and timming specs. no major head work just put new guids, seals and cleaned up the seats. deburd the exhaust ports but thats about it. mainly forged the bottom end that was the weakest link. but i am going with a stage3 clutch and some other goodies. this weekend was a good one finished up building the engine just have to get a new water pump and a gator belt and its ready to go in the car. i will have new pics up later this week.

I love it! I think that will really set the engine bay off. Just make sure the under hood area is clean and detailed as well and it should all look great!

It's looking great, what color is the intake? Is is powder coated or painted? I love the metal flake on the intake. Now you just need some pics of the engine in the car and some dyno #'s to go with it.

the intake and vavle covers are painted for now i just used the dark charcol gray wheel paint and cleared it. if it looks good in the car then i am going to have it powder coated sometime later i would like to have everything chromed but that isn't the budget right now. i hope to have the engine in this week end if it doesn't rain

Just remember anything that is polished or chromed plated holds heat! But it does look good though. I just hate having to polish and do alot of cleaning under the hood. I'm more of a powder coat person.. if it gets dirty just rinse it off and go. And no more back aches from being under the hood for long periods of time. But to each his own.

i know what you mean. i like the shiny look BUTT...... foamy engine brite and some armoral and it looks just as good or even better and takes oh about like 15-20 min or so not hours on top of hours polishing. well when the cobra is finished other than a new paint job i feel like its going to look really good it might not be the trophie winner my orange 91 coupe was but i will be one nice cruise in car and a ball of fun to drive.

Looks nice, Surprised you didn't upgrade to 03/04 Cobra heads an 99 intake.
svt_cpe
01-28-2008, 01:33 PM
i had thought about it but i like the way the 96-98 intake looks and other than some color and a wheel change i didn't wont to go to far from what it was stock. sometimes simple is better. plus with 650 rwhp being the goal it wasn't worth the money to find another set of heads and all of the intake stuff and buy a new inlet for the aftercooler. and the goal also being that the engine look almost stock but build good power. no one can see whats inside :)

Looks great, I do think the color on the intake and valve covers will set off the red, are you going to carry the color overonto anything else under the hood?? with the engine out looks like a great time to clean up some of the wiring in the engine bay

yeah stuff like that happens when a car has been sitting for about a year. caliper leak was a bad seal. i rebuilt all of the calipers when i painted them and i guess i either cut a seal or it got torn putting the front pistons back in. oh well i just fixed that so now on to the alternator. car looks better than when i first got it though.

Keep us updated, and yes I know about projects and problems when they sit. Mine sat for about 5 years with nothing done to it, with a blown motor. Just keep after it, sound like you are on the way!!
