Mustang Week 2010... a week to Remember!
Mustang Week Staff | 09.28.2010 | 12:30:44 | Views: 3932
Overwhelming, incredible, and awesome; these are some of the words that folks used to describe Mustang Week 2010! It’s hard to believe that it’s been nine years! The Mustang Week Staff would like to extend our most sincere thanks to everyone that made this year’s Mustang Week an overwhelming success! It amazes us to watch as Mustang Week continues to steadily grow and become one of the premier Mustang and SVT-based events of the year. Of course, none of this would have been possible without the help of the Mustang Week sponsors, vendors, and participants. We are grateful for the support they continue to give. Without them Mustang Week simply would not happen.

We kicked off the week with Tuesday’s Meet-n-Greet at Planet Hollywood. Just over 400 cars were in attendance as Mustangs and SVTs filled every available parking space at Planet Hollywood and Club Kryptonite! Overflow had to park across the street at Broadway at the Beach and even in some of the surrounding hotels! This event has quickly become a crowd and Staff favorite! Folks lined up for the entire afternoon to be one of the first to get one of the highly anticipated yearly Mustang Week t-shirts!

Wednesday carried Mustang Week back to the Myrtle Beach Speedway. This year’s turnout filled the Speedway to capacity as 220 cars took part on the Fun Runs around the half-mile oval and in the autocross in the infield! The autocross has quickly become a yearly favorite for many! At one point the line to take a lap through the course was three lanes deep! 1500 attendees watched all the excitement and the night ended with a show-stopping burnout contest!

On Thursday, we ventured to Darlington International Dragway for the Mustang Week Dragnight. 190 cars participated and over 1500 spectators watched all the quarter-mile fun. With the advent of the 2011 5.0 Mustang, the night was action packed! This year, spectators filled the stands on both sides of the racetrack. The Darlington Dragway staff really stepped up their game and had the track ready to run before the crowds arrived. Staging lanes were open all afternoon and evening and we heard of several participants that were able to make more than 15 passes! Great weather also made the trip to and from Darlington fun for all!

As always, Friday’s Car Show never fails to disappoint! The “sold out” show field was filled with over 600 of the finest Mustangs and SVT’s to be found! Participants and attendees could also take a good look at all of the Mustang Week Sponsors and Vendors who were out in full-force! It was especially nice to have Kicker Car Audio on hand to lend a hand with the DJ duties and provide excellent sound quality for announcements and awards! The Mustang Week Staff refined the Car Show arrival and check-in process this year and with the help of Stangs-R-Us and the Mustangs of Burlington, were able to park participants very efficiently this year! Again the weather held of for a sun-filled day to see the best the Mustang community has to offer!

Saturday we closed the week with the annual Mustang Week Cruise-In. The Cruise-In has quickly become on the largest gathering of Mustangs and SVT’s found on the east coast! Over 2000 cars filled the show field and surrounding lots and with the help of Saturday’s parking volunteers the lots filled quickly. The annual Fox-body cruise added to the excitement as they came rolling in from a drive that began at Myrtle Beach Speedway. Participants and spectators also got a chance to check out the two Mustang Week Special Edition Saleen Mustangs! One lucky participant and parking volunteer even took one of the Mustang Week editions home for himself! Nearly 7500 people came out to the mall to enjoy the fun on Saturday!

To say that the 2010 Mustang Week was a success is an understatement! Thank you to everyone who attended and took part, especially the Mustang Week Sponsors, vendors and participants! We are already hard at work to make sure 2011 is even better! The Staff has really enjoyed the past nine years and look forward to seeing you all next July for the Tenth Annual Mustang Week!

Thank you!

The Mustang Week Staff
