Vaughn Gittin Jr.
A name that needs no introduction in the world of motorsports and Mustangs. As a 2x Formula Drift champion and professional fun-haver, Vaughn has been pushing the limits of performance driving for years. Known for his high-energy driving style and enthusiasm, Vaughn has become an icon both on and off the track.
Vaughn is known for dominating both drifting and off-road racing. In Formula Drift, he won two championships, first in 2010 and again in 2020, with key victories at tracks like Long Beach and Road Atlanta.
Gittin’s skills extend beyond drifting. In 2021 he captured the Ultra4 Racing Championship in a Ford Bronco. With wins across drifting and off-road racing, Vaughn Gittin Jr. has proven himself one of the most versatile drivers in motorsports.
Ben Hobson
Rising star Ben Hobson is quickly making a name for himself in the drift world. As a member of the RTR team, Ben brings a fresh perspective and serious talent to the table. His precision behind the wheel and dedication to the craft have earned him a growing fanbase and a reputation as one of the sport’s most exciting up-and-comers.
Starting in motocross, he shifted focus to drifting in 2012 and sold his Ford Mustang in 2014 to fund his career. His breakthrough came in 2018, winning the Lonestar Drift Pro-Am and earning his Formula Drift PROSPEC license.
In 2023, Hobson dominated the PROSPEC series, claiming three pole positions and two race wins to secure the PROSPEC Championship. This success earned him a Formula Drift PRO license and a spot on the RTR Drift Team for 2024, where he now drives alongside Vaughn Gittin Jr. and James Deane.
The Cars
Vaughn and Team RTR Vehicles are bringing an impressive lineup to Mustang Week Texas, presented by LMR. Here’s what you can expect to see:
Mustang RTR Spec 5-D Drift Cars:
The RTR Spec 5D Drift Mustangs are unlike any other! They are the tamed versions of the 1,400hp RTR Spec 5-FD that they currently campaign in Formula Drift. These engines are a Vortech Supercharged 5.0L Aluminator, producing 900hp and are backed by a Tremec MagnumXL 6-Speed Transmission.
Mustang RTR Spec 3
RTR will have the 810 horsepower supercharged Spec 3 out at MustangWeek: Texas. It features a complete RTR set of aero enhancements, RTR Tactical Performance Suspension, RTR wheels, and Nitto Tires. You even get Vaughn’s signature on the dash plaque!
Mustang RTR Spec 2:
RTR will also have their Spec 2 Mustang out at Mustang Week! This one may not have 810 horsepower, but the 5.0 Coyote still boasts 486 hp. The Spec 2 also features RTR Tactical Performance Suspension components, a unique graphics package, and even the option of paint to sample colors.
MustangWeek Mayhem
The highlight of Mustang Week Texas will undoubtedly be Mustang Week Mayhem happening on Saturday night at Moody Gardens. This INSANE show will feature over 20 minutes of drifting from Vaughn and Ben, Live Music, a Light Show, Burnouts, and will end with a SPECTACULAR Fireworks show!
Drift Demos and Ride-alongs – Thursday, Saturday & Sunday
One of the killer aspects of Mustang Week Texas will be the drift demos. Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Ben Hobson will be putting on a tire-shredding showcase of precision drifting in their Spec 5D Mustangs. Fans will have the opportunity to see these pros in action as they slide their cars with style and control. If you’re feeling brave, you can even sign up to strap in for a ridealong with Vaughn or Ben.
Drag Racing – Friday @ Houston Motorsports Park
At Houston Motorsports Park, Vaughn and Ben will trade drift corners for straight-line speed, making passes on Friday morning at the drag strip.
Meet-and-Greets and RTR Merch
Fans will have the opportunity to meet Vaughn and Ben up close at Mustang Week Mayhem at Moody Gardens, MSR Houston on Thursday, Houston Motorsports park on Friday, or at the Car show and All Ford Cruise in at Moody Gardens on Saturday and Sunday. Whether you’re a longtime fan or just discovering the RTR crew, this is your chance to grab autographs, snap photos, grab some merch, and talk shop with two of drifting’s most exciting drivers.
