Mustang Week is the ultimate Ford Mustang gathering—an event built by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts, and rooted in a passion that has brought the Mustang community together for more than two decades.
The story began in 2002 with a simple idea: get Mustang and SVT owners together in a relaxed, welcoming environment where the cars mattered—but the people mattered just as much. That first gathering drew roughly 150 cars to a casual cruise-in at the Hard Rock Café at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. There was a shared love for Mustangs and the freedom to enjoy them alongside others who felt the same way.
That laid-back, open format quickly became the heartbeat of Mustang Week. As word spread, enthusiasts from across the country—and eventually Canada—made the trip each year. Unlike traditional car shows, Mustang Week allowed attendees to move freely between club meetups, cruise-ins, track activities, and official events, creating a uniquely organic experience. The mix of classic and modern Mustangs, grassroots builds and high-end Mustangs, helped shape an atmosphere that was unmistakably Mustang Week.
Over the next twenty years, the event grew from a two-day meet into a full week of Mustang-focused activities. Autocross, drag racing, circle track events, large-scale car shows, and nightly gatherings became staples of the experience. By 2018, Mustang Week reached record attendance, welcoming more than 2,500 Mustangs and SVT vehicles and over 10,000 attendees across five days—cementing its place as the largest Mustang event of the year.
Like many long-running events, Mustang Week faced challenges, including weather and COVID that forced the cancellation of all official events in 2020. The event returned in 2021, and in July 2022, Mustang Week was announced by the original owners as the final year of its original Myrtle Beach format. While that chapter closed, the spirit of Mustang Week never disappeared.
In 2023, the current owners worked with the original founders to save Mustang Week, and held the event at the Myrtle Beach Mall. That evolution continued in 2025 with the launch of Mustang Week Texas at Moody Gardens in Galveston—the first official expansion of the event. The Texas event introduced a broader range of Mustang experiences, including road course racing, drag racing, autocross, drifting, burnyards, spectator drags, music, and family-friendly attractions—demonstrating that Mustang Week could thrive beyond the east coast while staying true to its roots.
Today, Mustang Week continues to evolve with a clear purpose: to create unforgettable experiences that celebrate every generation of Mustang and every type of Ford enthusiast. In 2026, the original event enters its next chapter with a move to the Concord and Charlotte area. This transition represents both growth and opportunity, while honoring the Myrtle Beach roots that shaped the event’s identity.
Looking ahead, Mustang Week is being built as more than a single destination. The long-term vision is to expand into additional regions across the country—each offering its own flavor—while maintaining the laid-back, inclusive attitude that defined the original gathering. The goal is simple and ambitious: to give Ford owners something they can look forward to all year, and to make Mustang Week the most memorable week they’ll spend with their car.
At its core, Mustang Week remains what it has always been—a place where enthusiasts of all ages and all builds come together. From hands-on motorsports experiences and expert insight into the latest Mustang technology to great food, live entertainment, and the Ford community, Mustang Week is about more than cars. It’s about shared passion, lasting memories, and celebrating what it truly means to be part of the Ford community.
