Mustang Week Smoke Show: Ford vs. The World

Ford vs. The World is a premier burnout competition that brings together top drivers and high-powered machines for an intense showdown. Hosted by Frosty the Ice Cream Truck, Seth Cavanaugh, Shannon Serig and the Hobby Shop, the Smoke Show Tour event will feature some of the wildest burnouts of the weekend.

  • When: Saturday night @ Mustang Week Texas, April 26, 2025
  • Type: 100 x 100 Open Burnout Pad
  • Who Can Enter: Open to all makes and models, featuring a Ford vs. The World format
  • Entry Requirements: Application required and $25 entry, including vehicle history and background. Approval required for Ford vs. the World (can be moved to street class).
  • Prize Package: $5,000 in cash and prizes
  • What to Expect: High-energy performances, massive smoke, and top-tier competition

This is not a competition for burnout novices. Ford vs. The World is where competitors bring their best to claim the top prize.


Mustang Week Smoke Show: Street Class

The Street Class is designed for Ford-powered or Ford-bodied vehicles that are street-driven and meet basic safety requirements. This event is about controlled burnouts, driver skill, and putting on a great show in real cars.

  • When: Sunday @ Mustang Week Texas, April 27, 2025
  • Type: 22’ wide x 75’ long Burnout Area (no donuts)
  • Who Can Enter: Ford-powered or Ford-bodied vehicles only
  • Entry Requirements: $25 Open registration. First come, first serve.
  • Prize Package: $500 cash plus a prize pack
  • What to Expect: A fun, competitive burnout contest focused on real street cars

Mustang Street Class is a great opportunity for enthusiasts who want to test their skills in a controlled setting while competing for cash and prizes.

Whether you’re looking to compete at the highest level or just want to put on a show, the Mustang Week Smoke Show is the place to prove your skills and burn some rubber.

Ford vs the World Burnout Application: You’ll need to provide year, make/model, your engine/powertrain setup, and a brief background of your burnout experience. Also, tell us your social media handles, and add some photos and/or videos.


Rules

Fords vs. the World Vehicle Rules

  • Helmet required.
  • Neck Collar required.
  • Fire Suit required for methanol entries – SFI 3.2A/5 minimum.
  • Seat belts/harness required.
  • Fire-retardant shoes, gloves, and head sock recommended. Shoes must be closed-toe.
  • Hot fluids must be contained under the hood, or provisions must be made to contain hot fluid/steam.
  • Firewall must be complete and without holes into the driver compartment.
  • Scatter-shields required on supercharged entries using a clutch. Ballistic transmission protection is also required.
  • Exhaust Safety – Two bolts must be placed in the exhaust pipe in a cross pattern within one inch of each other, as close to the turbo as practical. Email for special exceptions.
  • Battery Disconnect Switch must be installed on all vehicles within easy reach for officials.
  • No hubcaps, wheel trim, or wheel weights permitted.
  • Wheels must be steel if attempting tire pop.
  • Hatches, tailgates, wings, etc. must have additional tethering.
  • No Nitro Methane allowed.
  • Burnouts shall not begin until instructed by an event official.
  • No standing burnouts – the vehicle must maintain movement.
  • Driver must stop immediately if instructed by event staff.
  • No passengers allowed.
  • No externally mounted nitrous bottles.
  • Battery must be secured.
  • No fireworks permitted.
  • Driver must be 18 years old or older.

Ford vs the World Competition Rules

  • Burnouts are limited to two (2) minutes!
  • Burnouts Begin on Official Command – Drivers must wait for the official to start.
  • Judging criteria:
    • Instant smoke
    • Constant smoke
    • Volume of smoke
    • Driving skill
    • Use of entire skid pad
    • Point deductions for wall contact resulting in damage or alteration to the pad layout.
    • Automatic disqualification for any vehicle backing up.

Street Class Vehicle Rules

The Street Class is designed for real street-driven vehicles. This competition emphasizes driver skill, vehicle control, and smoke production while ensuring safety for all participants.

  • Street Vehicles Only – Must be an actual street car
  • DOT-Approved Tires Only – Drag radials are permitted.
  • Battery Must Be Secured – No loose batteries allowed.
  • Coolant Containment Required – Vehicles must have a functional radiator overflow to prevent fluid spills.
  • Braking System Must Be Fully Functional – Front and rear brakes must be in working order.
  • No Fireworks or Pyrotechnics – No flame throwers, fireworks, or other hazardous modifications.
  • No Nitro Methane or Exotic Fuels – Pump gas, E85, and methanol (with proper safety gear) are permitted.
  • No Hubcaps, Trim Rings, or Wheel Weights – All must be removed before competition.
  • Helmet Required
  • Seat Belt Must Be Worn
  • Closed-Toe Shoes Required
  • Fire Jacket Recommended – Not required, but mandatory for methanol.

Street Class Competition Rules

  1. Burnouts Begin on Official Command – Drivers must wait for the official to start.
  2. Time Limit: 90 Seconds – Maximum duration for burnouts.
  3. Standing or Rolling Burnouts Only – Driver must show no or controlled movement.
  4. No Reverse Driving – Any vehicle that backs up during the burnout is disqualified.
  5. Judging Criteria:
    • Instant smoke
    • Consistent smoke production
    • Volume of smoke
    • Vehicle control if rolling
  6. Driver Must Stop Immediately if Directed – Failure to comply results in disqualification.
  7. Passengers Allowed – but must stay inside vehicle
  8. Disqualification for exiting burnout controlled area.
