For
only the fourth time in history, the Special Vehicle Team Owners
Association is holding a national gathering designed for ALL Ford SVT
owners to "experience." This summer, the SVTOA's "Experience IV" Nationals
will be part of the annual "Mustang Week" event held in Myrtle Beach,
S.C., from July 20-26, 2009.
The
Mustang Week Staff would like to extend our most sincere thanks to
everyone that made Mustang Week 2008 an overwhelming success! Every year
Mustang Week continues to grow and this year was no exception. Numbers
increased at several events as much as 25 percent! Of course, none of this
would have been possible without the help of the Mustang Week Sponsors and
Vendors! We are grateful for the support they continue to give. Without
them Mustang Week would not happen.
The
2008 week began with Tuesday’s Meet-n-Greet at Planet Hollywood. Just over
300 cars were in attendance as Mustangs and SVTs filled every available
parking space! Overflow had to park across the street at Hard Rock Café!
Wednesday carried Mustang Week to the Myrtle Beach Speedway. 140 cars took
part on the Fun Runs around the half-mile oval and in the autocross in the
infield! 1,050 attendees watched all the fun and the night ended with a
show-stopping burnout contest! On Thursday, we ventured to Darlington
International Dragway for the Mustang Week
Dragnight.
138 cars participated and over 1,000 spectators watched all the fun. In
addition to the test-n-tune runs, some participants stepped up and took
part in the very first Mustang Week Shootout! Some great heads-up racing
added to the night’s excitement! Friday’s Car Show never fails to
disappoint, and 2008 was no exception! The "sold out" show field was
filled with 550 of the finest show cars to be found! Participants and
attendees could also take a good look at all of the Mustang Week Sponsors
and Vendors who were out in full-force! And if that wasn’t enough,
attendance at the Mustang Week Cruise-In on Saturday was larger
than ever before. Approximately 1,700 Mustangs and SVTs filled the show
field and surrounding lots! Saturday could not have been more exciting...
but it was! Steve Saleen was on hand to sign autographs and meet the
masses! And to cap things off, Saleen, Inc. unveiled their new Racecraft
brand! Nearly 5,000 people came out to the mall to enjoy Friday and
Saturday’s events! We would also like to say thank you to all the
Volunteers that helped park cars and judge. Your efforts and hard work are
greatly appreciated!
Friday
and Saturday are going to be great days at Mustang Week 2008! Make sure to
