Mustang Week Moves to Charlotte Beginning in 2026 — The Next Chapter Begins

So when is Mustang Week 2026, you ask? You’ve come to the right place.

We are officially announcing that Mustang Week is moving to Charlotte, North Carolina — August 24–29, 2026. In partnership with the City of Charlotte, Charlotte Motor Speedway, and zMAX Dragway, Mustang Week is gearing up for an exciting new era — one that preserves what Mustang enthusiasts have expected from Mustang Week while opening the door to a better experience.

The Next Chapter Begins

The move from Myrtle Beach allows Mustang Week to grow beyond the limits of the previous venue. With the added space and infrastructure at zMAX and Charlotte Motor Speedway, fans can expect an even more exciting lineup of activities — including drift demos, drag racing, autocross, burnout contests, road racing, live entertainment, night events, and much more to come.

But before looking ahead, we honor where we came from. For more than two decades, Myrtle Beach was the home of Mustang Week — a place where cruising, car shows, and countless friendships transformed a local gathering into one of the most iconic automotive events in the world. We’re forever grateful to the local businesses, residents, and especially Horry County for their support and hospitality. The spirit of Myrtle Beach will always be part of Mustang Week’s DNA.

Why Charlotte?

Charlotte isn’t just another city — it’s a hub for Ford performance and Mustang culture. The Ford Racing Tech Center, home to much of Ford’s motorsport development, is right around the corner from the Speedway. The region also boasts powerhouse Ford NASCAR teams like RFK Racing, Team Penske, and Wood Brothers Racing.

It’s also the home of Vaughn Gittin Jr. and RTR Vehicles, Mustang Week partners and icons in the drift and performance scene. Add in the Ford Performance Racing School and the Mustang Owner’s Museum, and it’s clear — Charlotte was built for Mustang passion.

“Carrying the torch of Mustang Week to Charlotte from Myrtle is bittersweet,” said James Lawrence of Mustang Week. “It’s never easy to make a move like this, but all the signs said Myrtle Beach was not interested in supporting an event of this scale. Charlotte opened its doors and said, ‘Let’s build something incredible together.’ We’re excited to partner with zMAX, Charlotte Motor Speedway, and our community to create the best Mustang event possible. We’ll never replace the memories made in Myrtle — but what we’re building in Charlotte is going to be amazing.”

Protecting Mustang Week’s Future

The truth is, the move was necessary. Over the last several years, challenges within the city limits of Myrtle Beach — from denied event permits to lack of city support — made it nearly impossible to ensure Mustang Week’s long-term future. Despite continued support from Horry County, local businesses, and thousands of Mustang enthusiasts, the event needed a new home to ensure the future.

While that new home is Charlotte — a city that lives and breathes performance, we believe many of our loyal fans from Myrtle Beach and the Southeast will continue this journey with us — because Mustang Week has always been more than a place. It’s a community.

Meanwhile, Mustang Week Texas continues April 14–18, 2026, at Moody Gardens Resort in Galveston, giving enthusiasts another opportunity to celebrate their passion for the pony car.

At its heart, Mustang Week has always been about people — the friendships, the family atmosphere, and the shared love for the Ford Mustang. Myrtle Beach made Mustang Week legendary. Charlotte will make it unforgettable.
