Mustang Week Texas 2026 Presented by Monster Energy and Latemodel Restoration returns to the Texas coast April 14–18, bringing five full days of Mustangs, motorsports, and nonstop action to Galveston. From car shows and cruise-ins to drag racing and specialty showcases, the event continues to expand its footprint. In 2026, drifting will take center stage in a major way with over 20 drift cars.
The Mustang Week Drift Invitational will be one of the largest drift activations in event history. Twenty drift drivers from all over the country will descend on the Texas coast, delivering more than four hours of prime-time action each day. Drifting will take place across multiple days and locations, including a full takeover of the Monster Energy Zone on Friday and Saturday at Moody Gardens. You’ll also be able to catch them doing featured runs during Mustang Week Texas Drag Day presented by Tremec on the HMP Oval Track.
For fans who want more than just a view from behind the barriers, drift ride-alongs will be available Thursday through Saturday. Attendees can strap into the passenger seat alongside professional drift drivers and experience the speed and precision firsthand. It remains one of the most immersive and talked-about fan activations at Mustang Week. With limited availability, it is consistently one of the first experiences to fill up. Sign up in-person with the drivers at HMP and Moody Gardens.
For the first time ever, Mustang Week hosts the Friday night Drift Battle. Under the lights, top Mustang drifters will go head-to-head in tandem competition, pushing proximity and control to the edge. The format brings real intensity, real bragging rights, and an electric crowd atmosphere that builds as the sun goes down. If there is one night drift fans will circle on the schedule, this is it. The question on everyone’s mind will be simple: who earns the title of King of the Drift Battle at Mustang Week Texas?
Saturday delivers the headline moment with a full RTR takeover. Two-Time Formula Drift Champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. leads the charge alongside FD Prospec Champion Ben Hobson and the RTR Vehicles drift team and their duo of 800+HP Mustang RTR Spec 5-D’s. Expect massive smoke clouds, precise tandem runs, and the signature showmanship that has become synonymous with RTR. The exhibition stands as one of the marquee moments of Mustang Week Texas 2026 and underscores the true skill drifting a car can take.
In addition to the Formula Drift Pro drivers, we’re stacking the deck with many other veterans in the sport including Chris Leonard, Chris Hill, Jamey Meyer, Diego Sandoval, Isaac Godinez, Morgan Oldham, Joshua Ledoux, Matthew Glasscock, Samantha Nelson, Edward Martinez, Shane Davis, Tyler Robertson, Vashaun Roberts, Dwight Kovich, Vadim Todorov, Hunter Thompson, Josh Kurtz, and Ryan Myre.
Drifting at Mustang Week Texas 2026 is not simply an added attraction; it is a central pillar of the event. With elite drivers, multi-day programming, immersive ride-alongs, competitive battles, and a championship-caliber exhibition, this will be one of the most ambitious drift programs Mustang Week has ever produced. For fans heading to Galveston in search of horsepower, tire smoke, and unforgettable moments, the drift activation is where the energy will live.
