If you are looking to put a little power down a Mustang Week Texas 2026, circle Friday night. Because when the sun drops on April 17, the Monster Energy Zone is going to disappear in a cloud of tire smoke.
Presented by Summit Racing and hosted by Cobra Sam, the Mustang Week Street Class Burnout Contest is exactly what you’re looking for. No complicated formats. No overthinking it. Just drivers, horsepower, and a crowd that wants to see rubber turned into fog, and you’re invited to give it your best in the pit.
Smoke Show Central
By the time Friday night rolls around, Mustang Week Texas will already be in full swing. But the Street Class Burnout Contest flips the switch and invites anyone willing to enter the Monster Energy Zone to the test.
Drivers will prep their vehicles, roll into the pad, and when the signal drops, it’s time to prove your burnout skills.
Standing burnouts. Rolling Aussie-style burnouts. Donuts. Figure eights. If it makes smoke and gets the crowd screaming, it is fair game. Each driver gets around a minute to leave their mark. That may not sound like long, but play your cards right, and you just might leave the street class burnout champion of Mustang Week Texas 2026.
Street Cars Only
While Mustang Week Texas will also hold the Smoke Show: Ford vs the World Professional Burnout Contest, this class is built for real street cars and the people who drive them.
That means Ford-bodied or Ford-powered vehicles only, and the hardcore pro-style burnout machines are sitting this one out. The goal here is to keep the playing field fun, accessible, and packed with the kind of builds you’ll also see going for awards in the Mustang Week Car Show.
Before anyone hits the throttle, every vehicle goes through a quick safety inspection. Cars must be in good condition, free of fluid leaks, and ready to survive a full-throttle assault on the burnout pad.
The Crowd Is Part of the Show
To keep things fair, we’ll have a set of judges, but the Street Class Burnout Contest is not some overly serious motorsports competition, it is a show built to hype up the crowds and give drivers their best shot at driving thrills.
Drivers will be scored on crowd reaction, showmanship, smoke output, and overall vehicle control. In other words, the louder the crowd gets and the thicker the smoke becomes, the better your chance of taking home the crown.
Stall the car? That will cost you. Bump the barrier? That will cost you too.
But if things get tight at the top of the leaderboard, the crowd settles it. A tie breaker comes down to pure audience reaction.
Who got the loudest cheers? Who had the wildest run? That driver takes it.
A Little Cash for the Chaos
To enter the contest simply add it as an option when purchasing your overall Mustang Week Texas ticket. Registration for the Street Burnout Contest is $15.
Of course, bragging rights are great, but there is also a little money on the line. The Street Class Burnout Contest features a $1,000 prize purse with $750 to the winner, and $250 to the runner-up. Plus a super cool set of tires.
Not bad for less than a minute of tire destruction and the entire Mustang Week Audience cheering you on.
Rules of the Pad
Like any good burnout contest, there are a few ground rules to keep things safe and running smoothly.
Drivers and passengers must be 18 or older, and drivers need a valid license and insurance. Passengers are allowed, but they must stay inside the vehicle, wear seat belts, and sign the required waiver.
No pouring fluids on the tires. No reversing during the burnout. And absolutely no pushing the nose of the car into the K-rail barrier.
If a tire lets go, lift immediately. Safety crews and officials have the final say, and they can shut down any run at any time. Keep it controlled. Keep it safe. And keep the smoke rolling.
Friday Night Done Right
Mustang Week is more than parked cars and polished paint. It is about the sounds, the energy, and the moments that happen when enthusiasts gather in one place and let their cars do the talking.
The Street Class Burnout Contest delivers all of that in one smoky, loud, tire-shredding package.
So if you have got a Ford-powered machine, a fresh set of rear tires, and the nerve to put on a show, Friday night in the Monster Energy Zone might just be your moment.
